about

"Calvary" is part ballad, part mid-tempo waltz and completely touching. Dexter says he wrote it after hearing a true story about a mother who grieved for her incarcerated son. The layered harmonies remind one of seventies-era bands like Chicago and Air Supply. This exclusive demo download will not appear on Dexter's forthcoming, Carlos Nino-produced album debut.

about

Well, I'm not a teenager anymore. The most profound thing I can say now is that I am a human being. I certainly haven't ... more figured it all out. Have you? Has anyone?

These songs are selections from a year-long writing project inspired by playright Suzan-Lori Parks. Ms. Parks wrote one play per day in 2002. I have attempted the same with music. Thank you for your support. I am grateful. less
